The ATO is continuing to increase their audit focus with individual tax returns, in particular work-related expense (WRE) claims as per our recent update this was the largest category for audit insurance claims last year.

The tax lawyers tell us that the new tax commissioner is very focused on compliance and collections, this is just part of that ongoing process.
