We often get asked the broad question - "What may I claim for tax?"  The tax act is very clear and has a very simple definition.  You may claim expenses have a nexus or connection with the income earned.

There are a bunch of expenses with exact definitions and rules for claims such as:

  1. Car expenses
  2. Laundry expenses
  3. Home office expenses
  4. Study ore self-education expenses

However, every expense must be taken in context with the income it relates to and the taxpayer must be able to show the link between the expense incurred and how it assists in deriving or earning the income.
